Art Museum Reflection

Last week,my group partners and me went to the DePaul Art Museum. We spent almost two hours visited and made interviews with visitors and employees. The visitors and employees were nice and patient, we had good time talked with them. Even though the Art Museum is a smart museum, we enjoyed to visit there. It's free to visit the museum. The museum has two floor and many interesting artworks. My favorite artwork is the Lighted Shelter designed by Matt Siber. The main subject matters about Lighted Shelter are Aluminum, Plexiglas, and Fluorescent lights. It's amazing how the lights changed by time.

AIC Reflection

This week we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. AIC is a very great and beautiful museum. Ms. Gitta gave us a handout to complete while visiting the museum. We went through many galleys, and each galley had different artworks by famous artists. We looked closer and took some important notes. From the group presentations, I learned many new information about some artworks chose by classmates. The expression about some artworks are easy to know, but others are not. I like how artist use different or unmoral ways to create the artworks. It's fun to guess the idea of artists from artworks.

AIC website

I have to say that it was my first time to search of the museum web site for complete the homework handouts. I took a long time to find my interested collections. There are million collections with different style. Even though we can chose our own ten collections, it's not easy for us to write comments. I can say that for artworks I would like to see, to think ,to talk about them but not writing. Over all,I think AIC website is a good source of art and people can find lots of useful information on here.

Goya's Ghost

The film of the Goya's Ghost is surrounding Goya's life and history of late 18th century in Spain. In the first scene of the film, the Spanish Inquisition judged the works from artist Francisco Goya. Most of the holy man thought that Goya was painting whores as angels. One of the monk who named Lorenzo tried to defend Goya's work even he has hired Goya to paint a portrait of himself. One of the model of Goya who named Inez arrested by the Holly office. The Holly office tortured Inez in order to let her sign a false confession. Inez's father is a rich man and he wanted to rescue his daughter by given money to the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church didn't agree to release Inez. Lorenzo run away from the Church because his reputation has been blown up completely. At the same time, Goya earned great infamy as he painted a wildly unflattering portrait of Queen Maria Luisa. He was deaf after that. Fifteen year later, Lorenzo came back as a reader of the Spanish uprising. He freed all the prisoners in the Holly office including Inez. When Inez found Goya, and she wonder to get help from Goya because she want to find her daughter. While Lorenzo met with Inez, he thought Inez was crazy and he sent her to the Madhouse. Even though Goya found the daughter of Inez and Lorenzo's, Lorenzo wanted to sent his daughter to America because she was a harlot. At the end of the movie, the British occupied Spain and Lorenzo died of the execution.
After I watched this film, I felt sorry of Inez's experience. In the early 19th century, the Catholic Church had a lot of power even they arrested innocent citizens. The people in high position, they didn't care about others only themselves. This is a shame. The reason why Goya's works didn't accept by the Church and royal because he painted the truth and facts. Over all, this is a very good movie which showed the history of the Spain and the life of Goya.
